There are about 241 species (or kinds) and 5 subspecies of frogs known in Australia with possibly more to be discovered. Most of these only occur in Australia.
Of these:
*4 species are presumed extinct,because none have been found for so long,
*15 are critically endangered,
*10 are endangered, including Mixophyes iteratus, the Giant barred frog, which is in our collection and
*12 species are vulnerable (meaning they may soon become endangered). 3 of which are available to be seen at The Frogarium!
